Through her intense interest in the physical therapist assistant program at Mohave Community College, student Alison Abbott has recently had an article published in the American Physical Therapy Association National Student Assembly newsletter. Abbott completed her first semester in MCC's PTA program on the Lake Havasu City campus in December. Abbott paid her own way to attend the National Student Conclave in San Jose, Calif., in October as one of only 13 student PTAs present. The rest were all student physical therapists. APTA National Student Assembly officers personally asked Abbott to write an article for the newsletter, the Student Assembly Pulse. In December, Abbott's article, titled "Experience at National Student Conclave: A student physical therapist assistant perspective," was published in the newsletter for all students and APTA members to read. Abbott said that attending the conclave and writing the subsequent article has increased her desire to become involved in the APTA. She plans to attend the conclave in Miami next school year and is trying to talk several classmates into joining her.
