It's almost here - our annual 4th of July celebration in Valle Vista.
The day will start out with the golf tournament which has been changed to a four-person scramble, blind draw. Individuals may sign up and they will be assigned to a team. Sign-in is at 7 a.m. with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Cost will be $45 for members, $65 for non-members which includes golf and cart, lunch and a drink ticket.
The deep pit BBQ dinner will be served starting at 4 p.m. with a cost of $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Children's games will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The raffle drawings will start at 6 p.m. There will be a DJ playing music and then at dusk will be the fireworks display. Every year our celebration gets better and better, so plan on enjoying it with you friends and neighbors.
On Friday, July 10, at 4 p.m. is the deadline to submit a letter of intent to run for a position on the Valle Vista Board of Directors. Any property owner interested in running should submit a letter to the VVPOA office of 440 words or less by this date. There will be six positions open with terms of one, two and three years.

Here's what is happening at the Valle Vista Library in July:
The Summer Reading Game concludes on July 18, so there is still time to register and log your reading hours. Register at the library or on the Mohave County Library District Web site: http://mohavecountylibrary.info/. Just click on the SRG logo on the left side of the page.
Keep track of your hours of reading and either log them online or report them to Cheryl. All ages are welcome to participate, and you can join SRG throughout the length of the program.
There are two more SRG presentations for kids ages 0 to 18 at the Valle Vista Library this month:
Today at 1 p.m.: Eco-friendly recycling craft for the 4th of July! Make and decorate a tin-can luminary. All supplies and snacks provided.
Thursday, July 9 at 1 p.m.: Make a coin wallet out of duct tape or felt. All supplies provided. This is also the closing party for SRG participants of all ages. The Friends of the Valle Vista Library will provide food and drinks.
There will be no adult craft program this month, but watch for announcement of the August adult program.
The board is in need a group of volunteers for a "good old-fashioned scrubbing." Please let any board member or any VVPOA employee know you're interested in volunteering for the cleaning crew and your name will be added to the list.
We'll schedule a kick-off meeting where we will post categories by cleaning task (vacuuming, windows, bathrooms, floors, etc.) and each volunteer will be able to sign up for the task they like best.
We'll need a total of 6-10 volunteers and we'll close the clubhouse one afternoon and knock it out in two to three hours time. We'll also form some ongoing teams to help support a continuous cleaning effort of our clubhouse.
