Photo: 70 Years of Scouting

When Bette Beeman first joined the Girl Scouts in 1939, cookies were 50 cents a box and came in only three varieties. On Monday, 82-year-old Beeman was honored by the Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus-Pine Council for 70 years of service with the Scouts. Beeman, pictured here being given her recognition pin by Patty Everts of the council, said she keeps her Scout sash with all her badges in a safe deposit box. "It's one of the greatest things a girl can take part in," Beeman said.
