Gunshot scares off suspect

KINGMAN - It's always good to know your neighbors, as a north Kingman woman found out.

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies responded to an assault call at midnight Tuesday at a home in the 2000 block of Butler Avenue.

The homeowner reported that a neighbor had come to her house and said that she was trying to get away from her boyfriend.

The boyfriend, Jeffrey Scott Harris, 44, of Kingman then showed up at the house and allegedly started to assault his girlfriend. The homeowner retrieved her rifle and fired a shot into the ceiling.

According to MCSO, Harris left the house but not before making some threats.

While deputies were at the house, they spotted Harris's vehicle drive by. Deputies stopped the vehicle near Glen Road and Butler Avenue. While talking with Harris,deputies reported smelling alcohol on him.

He was arrested on suspicion of felony aggravated assault/domestic violence, burglary and criminal trespassing. He was booked into the Mohave County Jail.

A blood sample was taken from Harris and was submitted to the Arizona Department of Public Safety Crime Lab for further analysis.deputies reported smelling alcohol on him.
