An amazing thing happened June 6. We invited Relay For Life participants and Mohave County/Kingman residents to be a part of history and enroll in the American Cancer Society's Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3) at the 5th Annual Relay For Life of Kingman.
On Saturday, 184 of you between the ages of 30 and 65 completed a short survey, provided a waist measurement and gave a small blood sample for a once-in-a generation opportunity to help the society study how lifestyle, environmental and genetic factors cause or prevent cancer. And you made the commitment to let us follow up with you over the next 20-30 years to help us study new and emerging cancer risks that will not only affect our community, but the nation.
We called for action and you answered, overwhelming us with your passion, courage and sense of urgency. One lady came to participate; it was her birthday and it was her way of celebrating to help us out.
On behalf of the American Cancer Society, we thank all of you who made the decision to fight back against cancer in our community. Your time and your commitment are very much appreciated.
