I want to say thank you to Uptown Drug on Andy Devine. I am pleased to be a dedicated customer. I have been a customer for the last two years and proud of it.
After moving here nine years ago, I learned trying to get a prescription filled at other drug stores was almost impossible for someone who is sick and needs the medication immediately. We as a customer are told to return in one, two or even three hours and it will be filled. Once we return at our designated time, guess what ... the prescription still is not ready and you have to continue to wait. I know as a mother of five children, you want them taken care of as soon as possible and going to some of these pharmacies usually isn't possible.
This brings me to my reasons for thanking Uptown Drug. At one point a couple of years ago, my entire household was ill and I was leaving the doctor's office at 5:30 p.m. with no idea how to get all nine prescriptions filled that evening.
My children needed to get the antibiotics in their system ASAP and I called one franchise drug store first. They said it would not be ready until tomorrow (they closed at 10 p.m.).
Another would not take it and a third said it was too late in the day and to come in tomorrow. This led me to call Uptown Drug!
I had never been there before and they said we close at six o'clock and if you can get here before we close, we'll take care of it. I arrived at 5:50 p.m. and was out of their door by 6:05 p.m. with nine prescriptions filled.
The one thing I can say is that I never have had to wait for more than 20 minutes to get any prescription filled at Uptown. Most are done within 15 minutes. They are very courteous, cooperative and very willing to get you taken care of and treat their customers with respect.
They will contact you doctor's office in a timely manner to get refills taken care of without any glitches or excuses. They have never appeared to be short-staffed during any of my visits.
I dread having to get prescriptions filled after hours due to emergency visits because Uptown does close at 6 p.m. and the only place to go is Walgreen's to await the pain of waiting and having a sick child in pain at home.
I hope CVS gets here quickly because we definitely need another nighttime pharmacy!
