KINGMAN - Cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon Dr. Larry Cohler will be speaking on "Everything You Ever Wanted to Ask about Heart Surgery" at Kingman Regional Medical Center's monthly Lunch & Learn on Wednesday.
Cohler joined KRMC's medical staff in March. As a highly skilled and experienced cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon, he is developing Kingman's first comprehensive heart surgery program.
Before coming to Kingman, Cohler was in Las Vegas where he had a private cardiovascular practice and also consecutively served as chief of cardiovascular surgery at Sunrise Hospital, chief of cardiovascular surgery at Spring Valley Hospital, chairman of the Department of Surgery at Valley Hospital, and chairman of the Department of Surgery at Desert Springs Hospital. Also, since 2003, he served as a clinical instructor of cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas School of Medicine.
He attended medical school at the University of Iowa College of Medicine and started his general surgery residency at USC Medical Center- LA County Hospital and University of California Irvine Medical Center. He then attended Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y., where he received a PhD in Physiology. He completed his residency in general surgery at the Albany Medical Center. He then did a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of California-San Francisco Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Lunch & Learn features a different physician presenter each month, focusing on important health care topics. The seminars are free and held in the Del E. Webb Wellness Center Conference Rooms from noon to 1 p.m. Participants bring their own lunch and KRMC provides a beverage and dessert.
