KINGMAN - A Golden Valley resident shot another man during an alleged burglary.
Keith Allen Tillman, 24, was reported to be in fair condition Monday morning at Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas after suffering a .357-caliber gunshot wound to the left side of his chest.
The Golden Valley resident was found by Mohave County Sheriff's deputies in the 6600 block of Chinle Drive Saturday evening following the report of a burglary. Golden Valley Fire Department and River Medical treated Tillman on scene before he was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to Sunrise Medical Center.
"This case remains under investigation," said Trish Carter, public information specialist for MCSO.
Deputies received a report of a burglary in progress around 6:45 p.m. at a residence in the 4900 block of Stuart Mountain. The homeowner, whom the MCSO would not identify, told dispatch he had shot the suspect and the suspect fled on foot.
"The homeowner said that he heard some noises on his front porch and he observed a male subject standing on his porch," Carter said. "As the homeowner opened the door, the male subject struggled with him by forcefully entering his residence. The homeowner further said that he pulled his gun from his holster and fired a shot and the male subject fell to the ground."
The homeowner told Tillman that he was calling for help, but Tillman got up and left.
The homeowner said he did not know the man he shot, but Tillman is no stranger to the MCSO.
"He's had a history with us," Carter said.
In 2006, Tillman was charged with two felony counts of theft and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. In 2007, he was charged with theft of a means of transportation.
