Grant Wesley Koch, born July 10, 1921, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009.
Grant was preceded in death by his father, Peter Koch; mother, Ida Knowles Koch; brothers, Frank, Ralph and John; along with his daughter, Karen.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lorraine; sons, Gary of Ventura, Calif., Larry of La Puente, Calif., and Barry of Pomona, Calif.; daughter, Sharon of Kingman; and three grandsons, Jason of Rockledge, Fla., Paul of St. Marys, Ga., and Travis of Citrus Heights, Calif.
He is also survived by his eight great-grandchildren, Alexis, Nathan, Phoebe and Lucas of Rockledge, and Karra, Julianna, Rose and Naomi of St. Marys.
Grant was a proud member of the Merchant Marines. He was a Boy Scout leader for a number of years. He helped in building Faith Lutheran Church in La Puente and St. Marks Lutheran in Hacienda Heights, Calif.
He worked for Helms Bakery, Whittier College and The Wilshire Center in Los Angeles where he was the building maintenance plumber.
Along with Lorraine, they built their home in Hacienda Heights where they lived for over 50 years before moving to Kingman.
They cleared the land of the orange trees and camped out on the land while they built their home.
Grant will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Grace Lutheran Church, 2101 Harrison St., Kingman.
