Ruth Vivian (Starr) Jacobs, 86, a resident of Kingman for 12 years and widow of John R. Jacobs of Georgetown, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009. She was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Tacoma, Ohio, daughter of the late Raymond and Zona (Showalter) Starr.
Ruth was a retired bookkeeper for the oil and gas Industry. She loved gardening, cooking, reading, and arts and crafts.
She is survived by two daughters, Vicki (Brian) Hayes of Scott County, Ky., and Jeri (Tom) Berkoben of Charlotte, N.C.; one son, Paul (Patricia) Jacobs; two granddaughters, Amy Jacobs and Jennifer Berkoben; one brother, Carl (Polly) Starr of Massillon, Ohio; one sister, Nancy (Jim) Oyler of Fort Myers, Fla.; several nieces and nephews and a special "grandson," Gilly Sam Brubaker Hayes. Special friendship acknowledgements include Mary Dutra of Freemont, Calif., Theda Tipple of Byesville, Ohio, Brenda Rodgers of Georgetown and the late Lorayne McCune Carlson. In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice E. Jacobs; and one brother, Paul Starr.
