American Legion Post 14: You are welcome to enjoy our monthly breakfast from 8:30 to 10 a.m. this Saturday. Rick and crew always surprise us! Bring your family and friends. Friday Afternoon Bridge Club: On Nov. 6, the winners were: first place, Karla Kay and Bryan Carlson; second place, Kay Klaus and Jerry Lipson; third place, Virginia Mead and Bert Leenhouts; and fourth place, Jim Blaschak and Trey Gordon.

Golden Valley Chamber of Commerce: The Golden Valley Chamber of Commerce is having a tree-lighting ceremony at 3395 N. Verde Road on Saturday, Dec. 12. There will be carolers, choirs and cookie decorating. The winner of the "unofficial" mayor of Golden Valley will be announced. The event begins at 2 p.m. and ends at 6. Vendors are welcome! Good Sam Club, Mohave Roaming Sams Chapter: Our October campout was held at the VFW Lodge RV Park in Chloride Oct. 19-21 hosted by Vera and Arno Gates, with seven rig/members and one guest couple attending.

Kingman Area Food Bank: Crossroads at 424 E. Beale St. is holding a food drive. Bring in three cans of food and receive 10 percent off your purchase. Good until Nov. 20. For more information, call (928) 718-2707.

Kingman Area School Retirees Association: KASRA had a very interesting meeting on Oct. 27 at the Elks Lodge. The presentation was done by detectives Bill Fancher and Eric Urquijo, both members of the FLEX team at the Kingman Police Department, talked about methamphetamine. We will have our Christmas party at Frank and Bonnie's home on Dec. 8.

Kingman Kutups: The Kingman Kutups Square Dance Club is looking forward to a fun weekend, as we have been invited by the Avi Resort and Casino to participate in their Fall Country Fair. We will be staging square dance demonstrations both days. Our demonstration times are 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. AZ time on both days, and our Club Dance will be at 7 p.m. AZ time on Saturday. We will be dancing near the pool area at the Avi, so be sure and look for us.

Kingman Pinochle Club: The winners on Nov. 7 were: first, Martin Hoover; second, Charlene Graves; and third, JoAnn Brown. For more information, call Pat at (928) 718-1253.

Kingman Republican Men's Club: Our club again participated in the Veterans Day parade. Our three clubs had trucks lent to us by Martin Swanty, and we rode three abreast down Northern. It was impressive. Our next meeting is at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 16 at the Elks. Our speaker is Secretary of State Ken Bennett. At the meeting, we will also have nominations for officers for the next term. John McCain will be having a town hall meeting at 1 p.m. Friday at the Board of Supervisors. Also, the conservative group, Americans For Prosperity, will be at the Dambar on the same evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Morning Glories: The Morning Glories will meet next Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Mohave County Extension Office, 101 E. Beale St. Refreshments will be served at 9 a.m. and the meeting will start at 9:30. Members should bring canned food donations for the Kingman Food Bank; members are reminded to bring items for the Silent Auction and be prepared to bid on same! VFW Post 2190: The boys from Scout Troop 66 came out on Saturday, Nov. 7, to help us (Ladies Auxiliary 2190, Chloride) replace the flags for our Veterans buried in the Chloride Cemetery. The boys did such an excellent job. We now have 170 veterans buried here and we replace the flags twice a year - Veterans Day and Memorial Day.

Wednesday Party Bridge: The winners on Nov. 4 were: first place, Carolyn Johnston; second place, Nelson Gaska; and third place, Art Smith.
