Harold Paul "Shorty" Metzke, age 74, resident of Hemet, Calif, for two years, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009. He was born Sept. 15, 1935, in Williams, Ariz.
He spent his school years in Wickenburg, then served in the Navy on the USS Helena CA-75 for four years with an honorable discharge.
He lived in Arizona for many years, loved camping and fishing, and was involved in the Old Miners Day Parade and Chloride Belles as a drunken sheriff. He will be laid to rest in Chloride.
He is survived by his sister, Margaret Willis; daughters, Margaret Metzke, Patricia Metzke and Doreen Burbank; sons, Ivan Metzke and Noble Metzke; and grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews.
He will be in our hearts forever, and he will be missed very deeply.
