On Saturday, March 27, Jon David Purcell walked into heaven; he was 46.
Jon was born in Southern California with a crippling medical condition. He was paraplegic but survived and thrived against all odds. Jon didn't see himself as handicapped.
As a kid, he played wheelchair basketball, skateboarded and did everything other kids did. During the course of his life, he made many friends. Jon moved to Kingman in the '80s and worked for years at the old Wal-Mart in the garden shop. He enjoyed being productive and talking with people. Jon had to retire due to medical issues.
Jon was proud to have been married for many years to his loving wife, Chequita.
Jon was a kind soul with a big heart who loved animals. His animals were his children.
He is survived by his wife, Chequita; mother, Enid; brothers, Matt (Julie) and Paul (Lisa); and sister, Maria (Tony) Castillo, all of Kingman; brother, Steve in Reno; sister, Arlene (Leland) Couch in Oregon; sister, Carrie Gonzalez of New Mexico; 18 nieces and nephews; many friends; and extended family.
Jon was preceded in death by his father, Norbert; and brothers, Tim and Pat.
