Billy Gene Mullenax Sr., 61, of Kingman passed away Friday, April 2, 2010, in Kingman. He was born Nov. 19, 1948, in Altus, Okla., and came to Mohave County 27 years ago from Blythe, Calif.
He graduated from Blythe High School and was a maintenance supervisor and retired from Flying J. He was a member of the A.S.P.C.A. and the U.S. Bowling Congress. He was in the U.S. Army Company B 504 S&T Battalion from 1968 to 1974.
Billy is survived by his wife of 42-1/2 years, Marion Mullenax of Kingman; son, Billy Jr. (Jeannette) of Grass Valley, Calif.; daughter, Annette (Matthew Mesa) Maher of Kingman; sisters, Elaine Bannon of Las Vegas and Sandy Neighbors of Mineral Wells, Texas; and six grandchildren, Shandon Mullenax, Ryan Maher, Tayler Mullenax, Shelbi Mullenax, Becca Maher and Seth Mesa. He is also survived by his two beloved canine companions, P-Nut and Hun-E.
Billy was a very loving husband, father and "Bopa." He enjoyed camping, fishing and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Bill and Marion met when they were 13 and 14 years old and stayed together until April 2, 2010, but are still together in their hearts. "Bopa" was most remembered by his grandchildren for his "Bopa Dictionary." Dad had a great love of animals. The grandkids loved when their "Bopa" and they would pick on their Nana.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave.
