This is a special thank you to our local Kingman Western Arizona Humane Society - especifically Officer Ellis, Heather Smith Calendine and Erin Kenyon, operations manager. Additional appreciation and gratitude is also extended to HALT, Rachel Thalrose and Terri Gray.
Everyone mentioned showed such kindness and understanding in their handling of the abandoned little baby kitten that we found on our mountain property during a storm earlier this month. She was later adopted to her "forever" home on March 6.
A big thank you to Erin Kenyon, who was kind enough to send us a note. She was named "Socks" by the WAHS. We wish that we could have kept this little kitten ourselves, but allergies and large dogs at home prevented it. We are grateful that organizations such as WAHS and HALT have missions to help pets like "Socks" get adopted.
It is shameful and despicable that there are people in our community who would abandon helpless animals to fend for themselves in this harsh desert environment. It is through WAHS, HALT and all the other local shelters that these pets still have a "voice." We are ever hopeful that they all find their way to a good and safe home.
Stay well, "Socks."
