KINGMAN - Speed is believed to have been a factor in a single-vehicle rollover accident Saturday night near Dolan Springs that killed one and injured another.
Althea Jane Critz, 59, of Meadview was pronounced dead at the scene after the 1994 Ford Ranger truck she was riding in flipped several times on Stockton Hill Road at milepost 43 just before the Pierce Ferry Road turnoff around 7 p.m. Saturday.
The driver of the vehicle, Robert Allen McCall, also 59 and of Meadview, was ejected from the truck but survived. He was airlifted by Care Flight to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas with non-life-threatening injuries.
Trish Carter, spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office, said initial investigations determined that the truck was headed northbound on Stockton Hill Road when McCall failed to negotiate a slight curve and went off the right side of the road.
McCall apparently over-corrected, which caused the truck to rotate counter-clockwise as it slid along the shoulder of the road and eventually flipped several times.
Speed is believed to have contributed to the cause of the accident, although no estimations were available from the Sheriff's Office.
