Letter: America is at a turning point

Concerning the April 25 front page article on the new immigration law: I was attracted to the article by the highlighted comment from Emilio Almodovar.

"We can't be in the streets anymore without the pigs thinking we're illegal immigrants." At the end of this article, I discover Emilio is a 13-year-old American citizen from Phoenix. What a great citizen of our United States. I'm sure his parents are very proud of him. With his attitude, he is bound to be an asset to the future of our country.

I do not understand how illegal immigrants from any country can have that attitude. I'm a born-in-the-United-States citizen. I cannot go to any country in the world without a passport to prove I am there legally. I have tried very hard to abide by the laws of our country for some 73 years now. I have never expected anything for nothing. Yet I grow more and more disappointed at the direction our country is going. It is not far away that there will not be enough people working in the private sector to support our government and all those who feel they are entitled to support from the government. We are at a point in time when, if working Americans in the private sector, both Democrat and Republican, don't ban together and not vote for any incumbents and replace our present government and return the freedoms and rights that built this once great country, may God help us all.
