Gov. Jan Brewer was the star when the Mohave County Republican Party held its annual picnic Saturday at Hualapai Mountain Park. Brewer, the keynote speaker, talked about the recent prison escape in Golden Valley, and thanked Sheriff Tom Sheahan, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office and local law enforcement for their part in the pursuit. On the subject of prisons, she stated that "there will be a top to bottom review of our facilities" throughout the state. She discussed the state of the economy as well as the controversy and events surrounding Senate Bill 1070, saying she was defending the people of Arizona and wouldn't back down.
