Letter: Beware of verbal terrorists

This letter is addressed to every Republican, Independent, or Tea-Bagger who might watch, listen, like, or believe the paid-for treasonous rants of Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly, Hannity, Sarah Palin and Fox News.

In my opinion, these "entertainers" are the most un-American people allowed to live in these United States, and you are taking the words of these verbal terrorists to be the truth. The damning words of these domestic terrorists are just as destructive to our country as any foreign terrorist group hell-bent on blowing this country up.

The Fox Network is owned by Rupert Murdoch, an Australian-born multi-billionaire, and a right-wing partisan who has used his empire to pull American political debate to the far right. He also defends the oppressive tactics employed by dictatorial communist regimes, such as China, and admits to having hidden money in off-shore tax havens, such as communist Cuba.

According to Businessweek, "Murdoch's satellites deliver TV programs in five continents, all but dominating Britain, Italy, and wide swaths of Asia and the Middle East. He publishes 175 newspapers, including the New York Post and The Times of London. In the U.S., he owns the Twentieth Century Fox Studio, Fox Network, and 35 TV stations that reach more than 40 percent of the country. His cable channels include Fox News, and 19 regional sports channels, and he has imparted his far-right agenda throughout his media empire."

According to Time Magazine (July 6, 2004), Murdoch actually pays the salary of a top TV consultant working to improve the Chinese government's communist state-run television CCTV. As Time Magazine notes, "nowadays, News Corp. and CCTV International are partners of sorts," exchanging agreements to air each other's content, even though CCTV is "a key propaganda arm of the Communist Party.

In an effort to persuade Chinese dictators that he would never challenge their behavior, Murdoch "threw the BBC off Star TV" (his satellite network operating in China) after BBC aired reports about Chinese human rights violations. Murdoch argued the BBC was gratuitously attacking the regime, playing film of the massacre in Tiananmen Square over and over again." In 1998, Chinese President Jiang Zemin praised Murdoch for the "objective" way in which his papers and television covered China.

James Fallows of the "Atlantic Monthly" points out that most of Murdoch's actions "are consistent with the use of political influence for corporate advantage." In other words, he uses his publications to advance a political agenda that will make him money.

Why are you allowing a man who defends communistic regimes, and pays his hired "entertainers" vast amounts of money to say whatever they must to get high ratings, turn you against our President, our country, our democracy, and our integrity? These "entertainers" are being paid to "shock" their fans with fabricated lies in order to promote Murdoch's own far right, prejudiced ideology, and they have no qualms about doing so, and you have no qualms about believing them. Do you honestly believe these people have this country or your best interest at heart? Or do they care more about keeping their boss, Rupert Murdoch and his communist buddies happy, in order to keep those big paychecks coming in?

These "entertainers" have no morals, no integrity, and no respect for this country. The only thing that matters to them is money. And it is the gullible Americans who watch, listen, like, and believe these people, that are allowing them to further the demise of patriotism, democracy, good sense, and common decency.

The Middle East must love listening to Murdoch's hired verbal terrorists spewing their despicable lies about our president and our government. I'm sure their hateful rhetoric must embolden Middle East terrorists to no end!
