William Walter Tone, 91, of Kingman died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Kingman Regional Medical Center. He was born June 24, 1918, the son of LeRoy and Lydia Tone, in Sioux City, Iowa, and came to Kingman 33 years ago from California.
He graduated from high school and managed a Conoco Gas Station on Correctionville Road as distributor for InnerStatoil where he met his wife, Earleen, in Sioux City, Iowa. He later became a driver/salesman for a bakery. He retired in 1977 due to health. He was a member of the Masonic (All) Shrine, Scottish Rite, American Legion and Eastern Star No. 17. William was a 60-year member of being a devoted Mason-Shriner and Scottish Rite. He also is a charter member of two Arizona chapters as well as his Sioux City Lodge, where he was also a member of the Lodge's cycle corps. He served in the 133rd Infantry with the National Guard of Iowa. William enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Tone; his parents, LeRoy and Lydia Tone; and a sister, Betty Rowe. He is survived by his wife, Earleen of Kingman; two sons, Barry (Sue) Tone and Bill (Teri) Tone, both of Michigan; two daughters, Rexine (Tex) Osborn of Texas and Ricki (John) Lowe of South Dakota; his stepson, Dean (Stephanie) Bloemendaal of Oregon; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He will be missed by us all.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, with the Masonic Service at 11 a.m., officiated by Bill Hall and Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 17 of Kingman, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave. Interment will be at the Masonic Section of Mountain View Cemetery, 1301 Stockton Hill Road. The graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion, Post 14.
