Dozens honored for 4-H achievements

KINGMAN - Over 150 people met at KAOL High School to honor youth and adults for a variety of achievements at the Annual 4-H Recognition Program. Masters of ceremonies were Jessica Head and Madison Engles.

Sixty-six county 4-H Award Medals for outstanding project work were presented to 48 members in 29 project areas. To complete the 4-H year, members must submit a record on each project, said Gerald Olson Extension Agent 4-H Youth Development. The records include the member's goals and objectives that they set for themselves at the start of the year as well as a complete financial record and achievements and awards on each of their projects.

Receiving award medals for the Arts and Crafts project, sponsored by Mohave County 4-H Leaders Council, were Skylar Pendley, Black Mountains 4-H Club; and Miekhylla Pruett, The Stockton Hill Herd 4-H Club.

The Beef Award, sponsored by Audra and Tom Bowers, went to Geoffrey (Austin) Bracken, Bent Bucket Bunch 4-H Club; and Raven Honga, Buck-N-Doe 4-H Club. The Bread project award, sponsored by Mohave County 4-H Leaders' Council, went to Raven Honga and Trey Honga, Buck-N-Doe 4-H Club.

The Cake Decorating project award, sponsored by Sew What's Cooking 4-H Club, went to Kristy Koehler, Cactus Critters 4-H Club; and Catrina Noble, the Thundering Hooves 4-H Club. The Cavie project award, sponsored by Mohave County 4-H Leaders Council, went to Gypsy Patterson Peats, Cactus Critters 4-H Club; and Skylar Pendley, Black Mountains 4-H Club. The Dairy Animal award, sponsored by Mohave County 4-H Leaders Council, went to Miekhylla Pruett, the Stockton Hill Herd 4-H Club.

Also, the Dog Care and Training project award, sponsored by Kingman Animal Hospital, went to Kailah Goers, Stockton Hill Herd; and Abby Sampson, Cactus Critters. Entomology project, sponsored by Mohave County 4-H Leaders Council, to Baylee Hammond, Thundering Hooves. Food Preservation, sponsored by Sew What's Cooking 4-H Club, went to Raven Honga and Trey Honga, Buck-N-Doe. Five-Year Member Awards were presented to Conner Atencio of Blue Water Youth On Fire; Geoffrey Bracken, Ashlea Tomlinson, Kylie Tomlinson of Bent Bucket Bunch; Sheylon Moser, Maggie Partridge, Phebe Partridge, Will Partridge and Matthias Pruett of Stockton Hill Herd; Catrina Noble, Melissa Portwood of Thundering Hooves; Lindsey Schuerr of The Outlaws 4-H Club; and Emmy Lou Thomas of Big Sandy 4-H Club.

A 10-year membership award pin was presented to Samantha Sullivan of Buck-N-Doe 4-H Club.

Volunteer Adult Leaders were recognized for their years of service to 4-H. Five-Year Leader Awards were presented to Jerri Rae Moser, Gala Partridge, Tracy Pruett and Tammy Noble. Ten-Year Leader Awards were presented to Geoffrey Bracken, Nancy Head and Cheryl Honga. Fifteen-Year Leader Awards went to Audra Bowers and Shelli Whaley.

A 20-Year Leader Award was presented to Dawn Parker of The Outlaws 4-H Club.

The 2008-2009 Partner in 4-H Award was presented to Fancher 5 Feed and Tack in Kingman in recognition of its significant continued support of the 4-H Youth Development program.

In recognition of her achievements at the 2009 Mohave County Fair, Kristy Koehler of the Cactus Critters 4-H Club received the Primer Exhibitor Award sponsored by the Arizona National Livestock Show and received a $100 check for her outstanding work.

4-H Club of Merit Awards were presented to clubs achieving a high level of accomplishments. Clubs receiving Purple Seals were Cedar Hills, Cactus Critters and Black Mountains; clubs receiving a Blue Seal of Merit were Stockton Hill Herd, Buck N Doe, Ropers, Riders and Critters, Bent Bucket Bunch and Horse "N" Around. Receiving a Red Seal was the Cactus Critters Clover and Our World 4-H clubs.
