VALLE VISTA

Kingman Regional Medical Center has opened a new medical center in Valle Vista to serve residents of Valle Vista, Hackberry, Valentine and the surrounding areas.

"This was really needed in the community," said KRMC Director of Development and Public Relations Jamie Taylor.

The facility is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at 7264 Concho Drive, Suite A, near the Valle Vista Library. It's staffed by Nurse Practitioner Patti Stanton, who has 35 years of experience and is able to assess and treat most conditions, do Well Woman checkups and treat children age 5 and up. Horticulture conference Thursday

KINGMAN - The 6th Annual Lower Colorado River Horticulture Conference is Thursday at the Nautical Inn Resort, Lake Havasu City. World renowned horticulturist and author Mary Irish is scheduled to offer a presentation.

Conference fees are $55 and include breakfast, breaks and lunch. This year's topic is "Sustainable Landscapes."

Blood drives this week

KINGMAN - United Blood Services has blood drives scheduled for Kingman.

American Legion Post 14, located at 3rd Street and Oak, hosts a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. Call Dale at (928) 757-1878 for an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome.

St. Johns United Methodist Church, 1730 Kino Ave., hosts a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Call Lorraine at (928) 565-4841 for an appointment. The first 20 donors will receive a coupon for a free one-topping pizza from Papa Murphy's Take and Bake Pizza.

City fishing trip in June

KINGMAN - The 10th Annual Deep Sea Fishing Excursion sponsored by the Kingman Parks and Recreation Department is scheduled for June 4-6.

The spring fishing trip is open to the first 44 people to register at the Centennial Park Recreation office. Rates vary depending on single or double occupancy as well as fees for the third and fourth person in the room. This excursion will fish out of the Point Loma Sportfishing terminal on the Grande fishing boat.
