Mohave Silent Witness Tip of the Month

Beware if you receive a call from someone claiming to be a jury coordinator. Scammers are now targeting people with calls saying that the individual did not respond to a jury summons. When the individual says they never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks for a Social Security number and date of birth so they can verify the information. The fraud has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma, Illinois and Colorado. The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their Web sites warning consumers about the fraud. To report crimes anonymously call (928) 753-1234 or 1-888-227-8780. Silent Witness meets at 6 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month at the Kingman Police Department.
