KINGMAN - Authorities say a 21-year-old Meadview man pushed a friend out of the path of a car before being struck on Pierce Ferry Road Sunday night.

Michael A. Keegan was walking with a friend in the southbound lane of Pierce Ferry Road near milepost 30 around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Trish Carter, spokeswoman for the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, said Keegan apparently saw the car at the last minute and pushed his friend out of the way to avoid the collision. She was not injured.

Keegan hit the right side of the hood and windshield. He was airlifted to Sunrise Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition with head and internal injuries.

The driver of the Toyota was a 30-year-old Dolan Springs man. While the investigation is still ongoing, Carter said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident. The driver was not cited at the scene.
