KINGMAN - The busy summer schedule of 11 meets began last weekend for the Kingman Dolphins Swim Team at the Beat The Heat meet in Flagstaff. The Dolphins took 13 boys and five girls to the season-opening meet.
The boys had 12 first-place finishes, two seconds and eight thirds at the meet. Patrick Webb, in boys 13-14-year-olds, had nine firsts and a second; and Brady Cowin (9-10) score the other three firsts for the Dolphins.
Webb won the 400-meter freestyle, 400 individual medley, 800 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 200 butterfly, 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle. Though Webb took fifth in the 50 backstroke, it was the event in which he dropped the most time. He took off 10.06 seconds to finish in 38.01.
Cowin won the 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly and the 100 backstroke in his age group, and he placed third in the 50 freestyle. Cowin dropped 23.96 seconds off his time in the 100 butterfly, which he finished fifth in 1:51.70.
Marco Narvarte (9-10) scored a second in the 50 butterfly and a third in the 200 individual medley. Diego Narvarte (7-8) gave the Dolphins three third-place finishes in the 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 50 butterfly. Kael Juelfs (9-10) had two thirds, one in the 100 breaststroke and one in the 50 breaststroke. Giancarlo Narvarte (11-12) gave KDST a third-place finish in the 50 butterfly.
Other boys at the meet for KDST were Jacob Catalfamo, Jeremy Coffey, Sean Coffey, Nic Depner, Aden Dunton, Dalton Fichter and Jeff Watkins.
On the girls side, only Alexis Bathauer scored a top-three finish for the Dolphins. She took third in the 100 and 200 backstrokes.
The other girls at the meet for KDST were Sophia Depner, Victoria Depner, Schyler Eikenbary and Payton Wolcott.
