Letter: No one shall silence freedom

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

That is the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which is what guarantees all of us the right to free speech and the freedom to assemble in a peaceful fashion. Yet, even here in Mohave County, the attempts to silence the electorate for the self-centered reasons of a few elected government officials is prevalent. This cannot stand, and "We The People" must make it very clear to those that have been elected that we will not stand by and watch as our rights are trampled upon.

I am not supporting any kind of violence whatsoever, only peaceful law-abiding actions to thwart this injustice being perpetrated upon the people of Mohave County. The actions taken by supervisors Tom Sockwell and Buster Johnson against Mr. Zanna were illegal and absolutely unbelievable. How can an elected official even remotely believe that county property is not for unabated use by the general public? People, we own the county building, not Tom Sockwell, although he thinks of it as his palace.

The time to step up to the plate has come; Tom Sockwell needs to be removed from office for over-stepping his authority and not protecting the Constitution of this great country.
