KINGMAN - With the announcement by the Arizona Game and Fish Department of the lucky hunters who will be going elk and antelope hunting in the next few weeks, it's time for area bowhunters to sharpen their eye and start practicing.
Bob Shaw, archery director for the Mohave Sportsman Club, said the club's range is ready to provide archers with a quality place to shoot.
As part of the club's commitment to the sport, they will be hosting their first shoot of the year this weekend at the 7 Mile Hill Range. It's called the Spring 3D Fling, and it will consist of two 15-target courses. Archers can choose the Fun Shoot or the Trophy Shoot. There will be events for men and women, including the unlimited, hunter and traditional class. Youth and those classified as cubs will be shooting in the hunter class. Awards will be made in each class where there are more than three shooters.
The cost to participate in the fun shoots is $15 for a single shooter and $25 for a husband/wife. Families who participate can shoot for $30. Children who are 10 and under shoot for free.
In the trophy shoot division, the cost is $20 for adults, $15 for youth ages 11- to 17, and cubs 10 and under shoot for $5.
The events will start on Saturday at 8 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. Shooting will resume on Sunday at 8 a.m. and will end at 2 p.m.
Shaw noted the club will have soft drinks and water for sale at the event, and all archers, regardless of skill level, are invited to shoot at the club's new range. For more information, contact Shaw at (928) 530-4630.
