KINGMAN - Kingman is going to the dogs this weekend.
The Kingman High School Student Council and the Western Arizona Humane Society have teamed up for the first Bulldog Jog 5K Walk/Run and half-mile Doggie Dash Saturday.
Student council members were inspired to hold the event after volunteering at WAHS. Funds from the event will go to support both the student council and WAHS.
Not wanting to leave their furry friends out, students created the half-mile doggie dash for dogs and their owners.
Runners, dog lovers and dog owners can sign up for either the 5K or the Doggie Dash at 8 a.m. on Saturday at the Kingman Regional Medical Center Del E. Webb Wellness Center on Beverly Avenue. The 5K Bulldog Jog will start at 9 a.m. The Doggie Dash starts at 10 a.m. The cost is $20 ($15 for students) to participate in the 5K and $5 to run in the Doggie Dash. All dogs are required to be on a leash and up to date on their vaccines.
T-shirts and goodie bags will be given to 5K runners. Awards will be given to the top male and female runners and to the top two runners in each age group.
Doggie Dash runners can purchase a T-shirt for $5 and will be eligible for other prizes.
In addition to the races, there will be food and drinks, an adoption table from WAHS and a K-9 demonstration from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.
