Gaylen Cheryl "Quinn" Compton, a resident of Kingman since 1976, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, after her second courageous bout with cancer.
Born in Cortez, Colo., on Sept. 10, 1944, to Calvin and Lucille Compton, Gaylen came from a large, caring family consisting of six brothers and five sisters.
She was a loving mother of her children and her grandchildren. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends. A visit to her home was a walk through memory lane for all of her loved ones. Her walls in every room were covered with pictures of all those who were special to her. Her yard was filled with an uncountable variety of flowers highlighted by her roses. You always left Mom's house feeling loved.
Gaylen is survived by her daughter, Sherri Quinn Koch (Shaun); her son, Johnny Quinn (Yvette); her grandchildren, Gracie Koch, Branden Quinn, Jaeden Quinn and Tristan Quinn; her sisters, Jo Ellen Martin, Louise Pratt and Myrtle Nelson; and her brother, Richard Compton.
Family and friends will be having a private gathering at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, to celebrate the life of Gaylen. For those wishing to send flowers and cards, they may be sent to 3591 N. Willow Road, Kingman, AZ 86409-3099.
Donations to the National Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
