American Legion Post 14: On Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, Post 14 will be placing flags at veterans' gravesites at 6 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery on Stockton Hill Road, and then will hold a ceremony at the cemetery at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend the short ceremony honoring our military veterans who have passed away. Afterward, there will be a potluck lunch at the post for all Legion family members. At 5:30 in the evening, we will recover all flags we placed. Cactus Critters 4-H Club: The regular class for the Canine Group of the Cactus Critters will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, at the Fairgrounds. Please be on time! All 4-H members with dogs are welcome. Leaders and parents are always welcome. Remember, you have only three more classes before the end of the season. Bring water for your dog and plastic bag for clean-up. Wear closed-toe shoes. If you have any questions, please call your instructor at (928) 565-9323.

For the Luv of Paws: The Washin' 'n' Waggin' Dog Wash fundraiser for the Luv of Paws Domestic Animal Rescue and Sanctuary will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at Morti's World Dog Grooming, Heritage Square, 701 Stockton Hill Road, Suite P (across from the main post office). The price for wash, dry and nail clipping per dog is $15 for a small dog; $20 medium; or $25 large dog; and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Friday Afternoon Bridge Club: On May 21, the winners were: first place, Lois Viola and Wolfgang Vorbau; second place, Karla Kay and Bryan Carlson; third place, David Colfer and John Goryl; and fourth place, Kay Klaus and Jerry Lipson.

Friends of the Kingman Public Library: There will be book sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, May 28, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 29. Kingman Modelers Radio Controlled Airplane Club: The Kingman Modelers Club will be holding a club fun/fly Saturday, May 29, at the club flying field located between Guardian Manufacturing and the bulk propane storage tanks near the Kingman Airport. Club members will be participating in pylon racing starting at 8 a.m. and have wingless airplane races after that. The public is invited out to enjoy the activities and meet the club members and find out more about the club and the radio control airplane hobby. Korean War Veterans Association of Mohave County: We will hold our meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at the VFW Post 10386, 3036 John L Ave. The KWVA will also host a fundraising dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. at the post that evening. The dinner is breaded parmesan pork chops, herb roasted potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls and ice cream sundaes for dessert. The cost for the dinner is $7 per person and the public is invited. Mutt Matchers and Friends: Mutt Matchers has initiated a new program called SPOT - Stop Pet Overpopulation Together. SPOT will provide free spay and neuter of dogs for low-income families that meet the requirements in the greater Kingman area. Applications and instructions can be found on our Web site: Applications can also be picked up at our adoption center at 1001 Buchanan St. in Kingman on Wednesdays and Saturdays between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. only. In order for this program to be on-going, we are requesting that the community donate generously to help with this effort to stop unwanted litters. Help SPOT work! Mail donations to P.O. Vietnam Veterans of America: The monthly meetings are on a rotating basis in Kingman, Lake Havasu and Bullhead City.
