Guardian Angels for Pets turned in 5,639 signatures to the County Elections Department Thursday to place the revised county kennel ordinances on the March or May ballot. The organizations needed signatures from more than 4,600 registered voters. The Board of Supervisors approved several revisions to the county kennel ordinances on Oct. 4. GAP is made up pet owners and animal rescue organizations that are concerned that the revisions will put rescues out of business and place undue hardship on county pet owners. The county Elections Department has 20 days to check the petition sheets for errors and then turn them over to the county Voter Registration Office. The Voter Registration Office then has 15 days to verify the signatures on the petition sheets. The sheets will then be returned to the Elections Department.
