Businesses to offer special one-day deals for veterans

KINGMAN - With Veterans Day Thursday, at least two local businesses will be holding specials just for veterans in honor of their service.

The medical office of Dr. Jason Lowry plans to offer free dental examinations, X-rays and oral cancer screenings to all active U.S. troops and discharged veterans from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, with a limited number of veterans also receiving free cleanings in addition to the regular checkups.

Lowry stated his desire to give veterans an alternative, at least for one day, to having to travel to the VA dental facilities in Prescott to receive assistance, particularly after seeing so many veterans coming from the VA clinic next door. For further information or to submit patient information in advance of Thursday's appointments, visit the office at 1730 E. Beverly Ave. or call (928) 753-5069.

The local Domino's Pizza just up the street at 1949 Beverly Ave. will also be offering special discounts to veterans throughout the day. From 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Domino's will be offering vets any one-topping large pizza for just $3.99, with a special meal deal of one large one-topping pizza plus breadsticks and 2-liter soda for $13.99.

"That's normally like $22 for us," said Assistant Manager Steve Alford, who sought and received regional approval for the deal.

Because qualifying veterans must show valid proof of service, such as a military ID or DD-214 discharge papers, Domino's is only offering the deal for carryout orders.

For more information, call (928) 681-3030.
