Paid apprenticeship opportunities announced

KINGMAN - Mohave County One-Stop Career Centers are seeking applicants for six new paid apprenticeship positions at the Laron headquarters in Kingman.

These six positions are part of a new machinist/millwright apprenticeship program scheduled to begin in early 2011, according to Laron Chief Operating Officer John Hansen.

The apprenticeship is a four-year program in which each participant spends more than 8,000 hours in the classroom and on the job learning the trade, Hansen said.

Laron has partnered with One-Stop to guide applicants through the application and assessment processes leading to these apprenticeships.

"We are very excited to work with Laron to place six people into these quality jobs," said Mohave County Workforce Development Manager Jen Miles. "Our intent is to assist Laron and the job-seekers in finding the best match possible."

An orientation to explain the apprenticeship selection process will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, in the Mohave County Administration Building, 700 W. Beale, Mohave County's Workforce Development Program Representative Kenda Robinson said.

"We invite those who are 18 or over as of Jan. 1, 2011, who have a GED or high school diploma, and who have no history of violent crime or drug convictions to attend," Robinson said.

For more information, attend the Monday orientation or call Robinson at (928) 753-0723.
