On behalf of the City of Kingman Parks and Recreation Department, I want to formally thank our mayor and City Council, Kingman Police Department, Kingman Public Works Department, Mohave Radio Club, Hualapai Radio Club, and the Parks and Recreation staff and volunteers for volunteering their time to the 40th Annual Andy Devine Days Parade.
I want to thank the past parade chairman of 18 years and this year's grand marshal, Keith Adams, for leaving me a paved path in taking over the parade reigns. I want to thank Dave Hawkins for his many years of service as the parade announcer at the grandstands. I want to thank Earl Hamlin and Game Over Productions for televising the parade. Having great people like you to assist in such an event made my job a whole lot easier and provided a wonderful community event, and with that, again, I thank you!
A special thank you goes to Wells Fargo Bank and Martin Swanty Chrysler Dodge Jeep for their continued support. I also want to thank each and every entry for participating and being part of this year's parade; I look forward to seeing you again next year.
Lastly, I want to thank the public and spectators for attending this year's parade and filling our downtown Kingman area with community support. I hope you enjoyed the event and will continue to show your support by attending future community activities.
To those who volunteered or were involved in the parade operations, you all performed above and beyond ... from those of you working the streets with floats and vehicles, to manning the horses or handling the sports groups and dignitaries; from those controlling the radio frequencies or if you judged our entries; if you did the set-ups and cleanups or controlled the crowds; or perhaps you could've been the person who did the running around and miscellaneous stuff, either way, you all performed an outstanding job! The parade takes many hours of preparations prior to the event, and I thank those who helped me in that venture. Your time and assistance is truly noted.
I received several complements from folks around town who stated that our parade was very well organized and is getting better each year, not to mention those who were visiting out of town who approached me at the parade and complemented the organization and presentation of each entry and wished their city or town could do the same. Being part of this event made me proud to be included in such an activity with great people working it. I am truly thankful to the dedicated staff and volunteers such as you. I hope that I will continue to work with you each year and be able to host another successful parade as we did this year.
Once again, thank you and see you next year, if not sooner!
