Michael Trout (right), an author and nationally recognized expert on child maltreatment intervention from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana, shares a lighter moment with Mohave County Presiding Superior Court Judge Richard Weiss recently in Kingman. Trout directs the Parent/Children Institute at the university. Forty participants from the Mohave County Superior Court Infant/Toddler Mental Health team attended three days of training from Trout. Numerous agency workers who work with kids up to age 5 attended the hands-on training. Funding for the training has been through "First Things First" grant funds that were awarded to the court team last January. Training is held monthly.
