Letter: Why punish responsible dog owners?

I would like to publicly answer Supervisor Buster Johnson's question, "Can you imagine having one neighbor beside you with two dogs, one neighbor behind you with two dogs and one across the street with a dog?" as posted in the Oct. 10 Miner. Yes, Mr. Johnson, I can. In fact, my neighbor to the right of me has two dogs and their neighbor also has two dogs. The neighbor across from the second also has two dogs. My neighbor to the left has two dogs and the neighbor across from them has two dogs. I know there are other dogs close behind me because I can hear them bark. Gee whiz, imagine a dog that barks! Oh, I also have a dog, and for some reason, there has never been a neighborhood brawl because of it. If there ever was a problem it was taken care of by simply "talking" to the neighbor about it, and "poof," problem solved.

What I am referring to, Mr. Johnson, is called "responsible pet ownership." You know, those law-abiding, taxpaying voting Americans who do not need any more of our lives micromanaged by government, large or small! Maybe it's time to enforce the many laws and regulations already in place instead of creating more, or is it maybe as some have suggested, this is purely another way to create revenue for the county?
