Mohave 911: Thursday, September 9, 2010

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office issued more than 80 tickets for speeding in school zones during a Back to School traffic safety campaign at the beginning of the school year. Officers conducted special patrols of school zones throughout the county. The program, which ended Aug. 20, resulted in more than 130 traffic stops. "Our goal was to raise awareness that school is back in session and that students would be traveling to and from school," said Sheriff Tom Sheahan. "We did issue over 80 school zone speed citations, but during the two- to three-week campaign, our enforcement presence has had a positive impact by slowing drivers down."

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Daniel Adam Davis, 27, of Golden Valley on Friday, Sept. 3, for felony theft of vehicle. Deputies responded to a residence in the 3600 block of Agua Fria Drive and contacted the female victim, who said her 1998 Ford Contour was taken from the property. Deputies contacted Davis, who resides on the property. The deputies observed Davis' shoe prints on the property near where the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was entered as stolen and local law enforcement agencies were notified. A short time later, deputies were patrolling in the area of Chino Drive and Bosque Road and observed a Ford Contour parked on the side of the road. A records check confirmed this to be the stolen vehicle. Deputies compared shoe prints at both locations, matching them to Davis. He was contacted and arrested without incident. Davis was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail.

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Robert Lee Quintana, 72, of Kingman on Monday, Sept. 6, for felony disorderly conduct with a weapon. The person added that Quintana threatened to go back to his residence and retrieve his gun and that a short time later, his daughters advised him Quintana was shooting at them. Deputies contacted Quintana, who reportedly said that he is tired of the music being played at the residence and admitted to shooting the gun. Quintana was arrested without incident, transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail.
