Awaken America held a "Cry Out America" prayer event at Firefighter's Park on Saturday commemorating "Patriot Day" and the 9th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Ted and Susie Matyja coordinated the program which featured multi-denominational prayers at noon across America on Saturday. At the ceremony, Ted Matyja called upon America to return to God and for Americans to find a new sense of humility and reverence toward God. U.S. Senator Ron Gould said the country was founded as a Christian nation, stating that the Founders' declaration of separation of church and state was meant to prevent any one Christian denomination from gaining power. "They didn't want to keep religion out of government, they wanted to keep government out of religion." Several pastors said prayers and the Drama Dance Team from Bullhead City performed. Olivia Giogla, a 9-year Navy veteran wounded in the line of duty, led the anthem. Several people joined the prayer, some holding American flags.
