Black Mountain Elementary students Anthony (top) and Fernando Galvin IV (bottom)got a surprise at the end of school on Wednesday, when they were called down to the office only to discover that their father, Marine Staff Sgt. Fernando Galvin III, had come home earlier than expected from Afghanistan. Serving with the 3rd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion, Galvin has been on tours to both Iraq and Afghanistan over the past three years. Wednesday was the first time father and sons had been able to see each other in person in seven months. "It feels good to see them," the elder Galvin said. "It's been a long time." Galvin's godmother, Rebekah Bacoka, was also on hand for the reunion, as were a number of Black Mountain office staff, who couldn't help but tear up at the scene. "We're probably going to have a welcome home party for him on Saturday," Bacoka added.
