Williford's 25 saves not enough for KAHS

KINGMAN - Mark Williford returned as goalkeeper Friday and netted 25 saves, but it wasn't enough for Kingman Academy.

The Tigers managed just 15 shots on goal in a 3-0 loss to VARHS in Phoenix.

"We didn't come to play and the kids knew it," KAHS coach Ronnie White said. "It's like we don't play until we get down 1-0. After they scored that first goal, everyone played well and we had a lot of opportunities."

VARHS took the early 1-0 lead in the fifth minute of the first half and scored a pair of goals in the second half, one in the 20th minute and the other coming in the 30th minute.

"Once we gave up that second goal it was like that Pan-America game; everybody just kind of got down," said White of the Tigers 5-0 loss on March 18.

Williford was knocked out of KAHS's game against West Phoenix on April 1 with a concussion.

The Tigers (1-3 overall, 0-3 CCA) will travel to Phoenix NFL Wednesday.
