KINGMAN - The results for the 2011 draw for antelope and elk have been released, and for a number of local sportsmen, this year seems to be a good one.
I heard that Ryan Chan drew an archery pronghorn tag in Unit 18A, while his dad got a 5A antlerless tag.
Shane Moline and Wade Reaves teamed up to draw a coveted Unit 9 archery elk tag, while Dr. Duck - Bill Connelly - finally connected on an archery elk tag in Unit 10.
And proving that good clean living has its rewards, I drew my second elk tag in as many years. However, this one as promised wasn't for a bull.
Instead, I opted for an antlerless muzzleloader elk tag on the Navajo Army Depot near Parks.
There were just five permits offered for the early October hunt, and I got tag number five.
For those that didn't draw, there are still about 600 leftover elk tags available. There are four archery antelope tags up for grabs, too.
These tags will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis, by U.S. mail only, starting April 25.
Any tags left over from this draw will be sold over the counter at any regional office starting May 2.
