Mohave County Sheriff's deputies responded to a motorcycle accident on Stockton Hill Road at milepost 16, April 3. Deputies responded to the accident involving a driver of a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle around 5 p.m. The driver identified as Charles Rich, 64, of Chandler, suffered severe road rash. River Medical responded and transported Rich to Kingman Regional Medical Center. Investigations determined Rich was traveling southbound on Stockton Hill Road when the accident occurred. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The accident remains under investigation.

Mohave County Sheriff's deputies arrested Zachary Tyler Gaston, 25, of Kingman, April 3 for felony possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of counterfeit money, along with misdemeanor charges. Deputies reportedly observed a motorcycle speeding and fail to stop at posted stop signs around 3:15 p.m. They conducted a traffic stop in the 3600 block of Hearne Avenue.

As the driver was coming to a stop to the side of the road, deputies allegedly observed the driver look to the right and a branch from a large tree nearby move slightly. Deputies contacted Gaston, the driver. A records check showed Gaston to have a suspended driver's license and a failure to pay fines warrant issued by Kingman Municipal Court, both misdemeanors. He was arrested without incident. Deputies then reportedly saw a cigarette box sitting on the branches of the tree that had moved before. Gaston initially denied knowledge tossing any items into the tree but allegedly admitted the cigarette box contained dope. Deputies retrieved the item from the tree branches. A search of the box reportedly revealed multiple plastic bags containing crystal chunks, a large crystal rock and a white crystal substance. A field test showed the white crystal substance to be methamphetamine. The crystal rock weighed approximately 2 grams.

Deputies also allegedly found Gaston to be in possession of a counterfeit 100 bill. He was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
