Big game tags still available

Even if you weren't one of the lucky sportsmen or women who drew fall big game tags, don't despair.

The Arizona Game & Fish Department has advised that there are literally thousands of tags available for general deer, muzzleloader deer, fall turkey and junior's only javelina tags.

The tags are being issued on a first come, first serve basis by U.S. mail only. Applications for these tags could be submitted starting on August 1.

There are general deer tags in over 30 units throughout Arizona, though most are whitetail tags in southern Arizona.

There are still 13 muzzleloader mule deer tags available for Unit 20B, and over 700 turkey tags available in Game Management Units 6B, 7, 9, and 12A (Kaibab).

There are a number of juniors-only javelina tags available throughout Arizona, including 33 general tags that are still offered close to Kingman in Unit 16A (Hualapai Mountains).

You must apply on a regular application and include all the fees associated with the tag. You must have a valid Arizona hunting license to apply.

Applying for left over tags will not affect your current bonus points, but you will not receive an additional bonus point if you are unsuccessful in this application.
