Fifth-grader J.R. Norton (bottom right) shows off his certificate and ribbon, as does fellow fifth-grader Xavius Tauta (center). Norton finished first and Tautu second in the Kingman spelling bee. Also pictured at (from left) are spelling bee judge Carol Anderson, spelling bee pronouncer and Kingman High School Assistant Principal Mr. Cliff Angle, and spelling bee judge, Rhonda Walker. As first place champion, J.R. will now proceed to the Mohave County Spelling Bee and compete along with all of the champions from each elementary school in Mohave County. As second place champion, Xavius will attend the spelling bee as an alternate.
