KINGMAN - The last day to appeal your 2012 property tax evaluation is Thursday.
According to the Mohave County Assessor's website, the 2012 property evaluations were mailed to property owners in February. The evaluations are based on the market price of properties from January 2009 to June 2010.
Residents have two chances to appeal the evaluation of their property. The first route is to appeal their evaluation at the County Assessor's Office within 60 days of the notice being mailed. The deadline to file an appeal with the Assessor's Office was April 6.
Property owners may also file an appeal in the state tax court in Maricopa County before Dec. 15. The County Assessor's website offers a link at the bottom of its real property tax appeals page. The page can be found at www.co.mohave.az.us, click on Departments, then Assessor and finally on real property appeals on the left side of the page.
According to information provided on the Clerk of the Superior Court of Maricopa County's website, the fees to file an appeal in tax court are between $142 and $286.
According to the Assessor's website, residents who bought property in Mohave County between Dec. 16, 2010 and Dec. 15, 2011 can appeal both their 2011 and 2012 values as long as the previous owner didn't appeal the values.
