American Legion Post 14: Post 14, Auxiliary Unit 14, S.A.L. Detachment 14, and Legion Riders Chapter 14 all say "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year" to our members, our veterans, and their families. The Post will be closed on Christmas Day. Start your 2012 with our champagne brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on New Year's Day. Tickets are available at the Post for only $13 per person; please get your tickets in advance, as we may not be able to accommodate walk-ins. The menu is extensive; see your newsletter for details. Looking further into the new year, there are strong rumors of a chili contest for the Superbowl game. If you thought the Army-Navy game brought out the trash-talkers, "you ain't heard nothin' yet"! Post 14's regular operating hours are noon to 6 p.m. every day, but we are flexible for special events. Find us on the corner of Third and Oak in downtown Kingman. Call us at 753-3555.

Belles of St. Mary's: Last week we gave an assignment - to take inventory of our many daily blessings and then thank, acknowledge and praise the One from whom all blessings come. Now we add one more - be vocal. Let's be like the host of angels that announced the birth of our Lord Himself! We Belles hold a very special and responsible mantle of authority. Most of us are either grandmothers or current mothers; we have already celebrated many "Christmases Past." We know the rich and true history of this world-changing event. It is our duty to hand on the soul-saving truth of the birth of our Savior to all those around us. As we hustle and add to the bustle of today's Christmas chaos, let's make a determined effort to point out that all these wonderful blessings are bestowed on us by our God. We are proof of His presence as we reach out to provide to those in need, but we must proclaim that all we do is in His Name. Belles, our Lord is counting on us. Let us all call out "Merry and Holy Christ's Mass" and then show by our love that we truly believe.
