James Zoubek was born June 23, 1924, and passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, in Kingman.
James Zoubek was born and raised in Stanton, Neb., and graduated from the University of Nebraska. He served in WWII from 1943 to 1945 in France and Germany.
Many Kingman residents remember Jim as Mr. Zoubek who taught mathematics at Mohave County Union High School and later Kingman High School from 1958 to 1985.
Jim played the piano professionally for many years and did a lot of volunteer playing at the Senior Center. He continued to play for the residents at the Gardens Assisted Living for the past few years.
Jim wrote and published a book of poetry; he was a life-long member of the Elks, the American Legion and past member of the Kiwanis, and volunteered over the years for many other service organizations.
