Letters: Bacteria: There is a difference

A few months ago, I wrote a letter pertaining to the quality of the water in So-Hi. The water company explained to me about the bacteria that is in our well. The bacteria forms naturally in the ground and is considered to be harmless.

There are two types of coliform bacteria. One kind is from sewage waste and usually accompanies e-coli, but the coliform bacteria in our well, is not from sewage, but from minerals in the ground. These two bacteria may share the same name, but are completely different.

So-Hi Water District came to my house and took samples right out of my kitchen sink and submitted them to the state for testing! The state reported that the water is clean and safe to drink. I have now ruled out the water as a possible cause for my symptoms.

Thank you So-Hi Water District! Thank you.
