Dronchi selected as Sailor of the Year

Hospital Corpsman 1st Class (Expeditionary Warfare/Aviation Warfare) Joseph Dronchi was recently selected as Sailor Of the Year for Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron Nine, Whidbey Island, Wash., and Maritime Expeditionary Security Group One, San Diego, Calif. Dronchi has also been selected to compete at Naval Expeditionary Combat Command, Norfolk, Va., later this year.

Dronchi is currently deployed to the North Arabian Gulf with Commander, Task Group 56.5, where is serving as the leading petty officer of Force Medical. CTG 56.5 is comprised of U.S. Navy sailors and U.S. Coast Guard guardians and is providing anti-terrorism force protection and harbor defense port security for maritime assets in the 5th Fleet area of responsibility.

Dronchi is a 2000 graduate of Kingman High School and is the son of the late Thomas Dronchi of Battle Creek, Mich., and Mark and Nancy Esquibel of Kingman. He was recently awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his actions in support of Operation New Dawn.
