KINGMAN - Duane Scholer, the chief operating officer of Hualapai Mountain Medical Center, has left the hospital.
"Duane was brought in to develop the hospital and has accomplished what he set out to do by getting the hospital out of the ground and spending the first year developing the staff and working with the medical staff on service development," said Edwin French, the president and CEO of MedCath Corporation, the parent company. "Duane and I came to a mutual agreement that this is a good time for moving HMMC forward with the operating and process improvement focus. We all appreciate his contribution and wish him well in his endeavor to put this experience to work in his career move."
French said that Scholer was not staying with MedCath and his departure did not have anything to do with the possible sale of the hospital or the death of an emergency room patient in October.
"It is very coincidental that Duane is leaving at this time," French said.
French also confirmed that the person in charge of risk assessment for the hospital has left, but declined to speak further, saying that it was a personnel issue and he was not at liberty to discuss it.
